SYLVA – BalsamWest FiberNET has announced that it is tapping into the Atlanta Internet backbone, dramatically increasing service available through Dnet Internet Services and on the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians reservation.

The Atlanta link occurs through an agreement with USCarrier Telecom and provides access to the third largest Internet backbone in the nation.

BalsamWest is based in Sylva. Founded by Franklin-based Drake Enterprises and the Eastern Band, it serves six Western North Carolina counties and adjoining areas of east Tennessee and northern Georgia.
